Here you can find many of the stories that have inspired me throughout the years.

The Howl's Moving Castle series has a special place in my heart for all the reasons you would think. Magic, Mystery, and a Wacky bunch of characters wandering around on crazy adventures. I stumbled upon this series after watching Hayao Miyazaki's ICONIC film with the same name. His magical world really brought the original story to life, but after finally reading the story as a teenager, I understood why Miyazaki chose this story as his Muse. I consumed one book after another and Diana Wynne Jones has one of the most beautiful imaginations I've seen. These stories are great for older kids and anyone who enjoys magical happenings.

I was so late to the party with this series. At first, I was very overwhelmed because of its hefty size, but it completely captured me with its very first passage:
"IT WAS NIGHT AGAIN. The Waystone Inn lay in silence, and it was a silence of three parts."
The way Patrick Rothfuss entices his audience with words can only be summed up as mystical and intriguing. I'm a sucker for mystery, and I had no idea what I was getting into with this one. It exceeded any expectations I had; going even farther than I imagined. It's a high fantasy series that focuses on a detailed magical system with expansive world building. It's a mesmerizing series that will keep you entertained. No time is wasted.

Fairy Tales are apart of many cultures around the world, and this series does a fantastic job at building those tales from the ground up. Katherin Arden knits together a beautiful interpretation of Russian tales by the fire. The story is so atmospheric that I can almost feel the bitter cold and taste the traditional pastries. This is a dark fantasy series, so there are many moments that feel unsettling. Something I also love in stories. The characters are well thought out and we follow many of them through the years which made me care greatly for them and their wellbeing. Arden does such a great job with creating these characters. They have flaws and make bad decision. You watch as they uncover hidden truths. What is real and what is reality? Who can you trust and who is lying? Its just a really beautifully crafted series.

This series takes me wayyyy back to when I was a middle schooler. It was so good that I still think about it til this day. It was a series ahead of its time and talked about issues like body dysmorphia, depression, harmful stereotypes and more that plagued the youth. Scott Westerfeld was not afraid to push the boundaries, but he explained topics in a way that didn't feel too much to handle. As a teen, I watched as a girl questioned the workings of the world around her. Seeing her grow while also trying not to lose herself in the propaganda everyone pushed on people her age. Lots of Sci-Fi elements with crazy technology. It was a wild wild ride.
Fall in love with these series like I did

"The dreamers walk among us . . . and so do the dreamed. Those who dream cannot stop dreaming -- they can only try to control it. Those who are dreamed cannot have their own lives -- they will sleep forever if their dreamers die.
And then there are those who are drawn to the dreamers. To use them. To trap them. To kill them before their dreams destroy us all."

"Victor and Eli started out as college roommates--brilliant, arrogant, lonely boys who recognized the same sharpness and ambition in each other. In their senior year, a shared research interest in adrenaline, near-death experiences, and seemingly supernatural events reveals an intriguing possibility: that under the right conditions, someone could develop extraordinary abilities. But when their thesis moves from the academic to the experimental, things go horribly wrong."
